We are pleased to make available this recording of our 2015 Maundy Thursday Worship service on April 2, 2015.

This service commemorates the Last Supper and tells the story of the betrayal, crucifixion, and death of Jesus.  This is a solemn service, ending in darkness and silence.

As a part of the service the church is stripped of banners and decoration, and the cross that hangs in the sanctuary is veiled.  This extended period of silence has been edited from this recording.

Friends, we are very pleased to share this recording from our first-ever second Christmas Eve service of Lessons and Carols - featuring bluegrass music and lessons from the Cotton Patch Gospels.  What a celebration!

Because of technical challenges we did not not quite get the entire service recorded - but we came close!  The recording begins with the first hymn and concludes with a solo of "O Holy Night," presented during communion.

We owe a huge thanks to everyone who helped make this service possible. Our Music Director Julie Duemler created the service.  For Music we owe a huge thanks to our musicians: Stuart Duncan, John and Rebecca Frazier, Ketch Secor, Jonell Mosser, Dieta Duncan, and Julie Duemler.  For Word, we thank our Lesson readers: Shelley Freeman, William Aaron, Susan McBride, Bob Frech, Steve Walls, Steve Dickerson, and Julie Duemler.

And there are, of course, so many others who worked to make this special evening possible. We are thankful for every member of our loving community!

We hope this recording brings you all of the joy and love from our celebration!

Brothers and Sisters, our celebration of World Communion Sunday was remarkable - filled with joy and song and color and love.  We welcomed the members of the East African community who have been occasionally using our building for their worship for a joint service in English and Swahili.

Our children's choirs sang together - our adult choir sang in Swahili and the East Africans sang joyfully along.  The Word was shared in English and Swahili and translated for all. It was truly a day of connection and celebration!

Please note: becuase of the length of the service the CD used to record it filled up - so there is a small break between the offertory and the communion prayer where the CD was changed out.

Friends, it is our privilege to share with you this recording of our Christmas Eve Service, 2013.

The recording begins with contemplative instrumental music provided by members and friends of the Eastwood Christian Church community.

Due to recording constraints, the words of the institution of Communion are not part of this recording.  The solo offering of "O Holy Night," which was sung during communion, is presented here in part and ends the recording.

We hope that you may live in the light and love of God this day and every day.

Our Maundy Thursday Worship service is often described as one of the most meaningful and powerful services of the year.  It is a service of contemplation as we go with Jesus to the Upper Room for the Last Supper with those he loved.

This somber service contains powerful elements of Word and of Music.  Following Communion, during which the organ plays, there are seven minutes of silence.  During this time, the church is stripped - banners are taken down, flowers and candles removed, and then, finally, the cross that hangs at the front of the church is veiled with a black cloth.

The service concludes with 14 readings from Luke 22:24-23:56.  After the last reading, those attending the service depart in silence.

"The women who had come with him from Galilee followed, and they saw the tomb and how his body was laid. Then they returned, and prepared spices and ointments.

"On the sabbath they rested according to the commandment."

-- Luke 23:55-56
