Eastwood Christian Church - Nashville, TN
Sermons, music and other highlights from worship services at Eastwood Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), located at 1601 Eastwood Avenue, Nashville, Tennessee.

Eastwood Christian Church's Lessons and Carols service on Christmas Eve 2011.  The service is presented here in its entirety.

The service begins with Pastor Jay Hartley leading the young children in the story of the nativity and is followed by a series of Lessons shared by various readers and Carols that include congregational hymns and special music. Communion follows with candlelight and the assembled singing Silent Night.

Please note that because the music was presented from the front of the church, the microphones did not always pick it up strongly.

Because of technical difficulties, there is a brief section of the sermon that was not recorded. As Pastor Jay is sharing the story of the king who gave away his wordly goods, you'll notice a stretch of silence and the story jumps from the king making his first gift to the king having given away all of his possessions.  We apologize for the omission and hope it does not diminish your appreciation and understanding of the message.

Isaiah 61: 1-4, 8-11

"We are made for goodness.  We are made for love.  We are made for togetherness.  We are made for all the beautiful things that you and I know.  We are made to tell the world that there are no outsiders.  All are welcome: black, white, red, yellow, rich, poor, educated, not educated, male, female, gay, straight, all, all, all.  We all belong to this family, this human family, God's family."  -- Desmond Tutu
